Saturday, July 11th, 2009

Just like at XTERRA Coeur D’Alene and XTERRA  Richmond, my friends from Balega (new website) came out to help spread the Balega and Fleet Feet specialty sport store love to the local community.
We usually have a meet and greet at the local Fleet Feet. (Even rhymes!) We smile knowingly when people rave about the best [...]

These guys are all relative newbies to sport. Sorry Gustav- rugby (even provincial rugby) [...]

Ironman Kona swim experience

Saturday, October 11th, 2008

I couldn’t figure out what the squeaking sounds were, till the dolphins were right next to me. They hung around for a while and swam amongst the 100s of other swimmers - delighted squeals piping up everywhere…

Death on the Flume Trail. Well, almost…

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

The Flume Trail- Lake Tahoe
I pre rode this weekends’ XTERRA USA Champs course here at Incline Village, Lake Tahoe.  I’m in full taper and the legs are great- I churned the big chainring as I effortlessly glided along the most scenic trail I have ever ridden. The Flume Trail.

Training in Las Vegas.

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

Red Rock Canyon outside Las Vegas, actually.
Interbike was especially hectic for me. Not only was it my 1st time in Vegas -a huge culture shock- it was also Interbike - another full-on sensory overload. Fortunately there was training- my safe haven from the ruckus and all the squalor out there.

Saturday, September 27th, 2008

TaDAA!
This is the Avia trail racing shoe I helped design. Yes, trail RACING shoe. Avia Product Manager Ike Alvear extended the offer and said I could basically build my dream shoe for XTERRA racing. What an honour!

Bike porn from Interbike 2007

I spent the day at the Specialized “village”. Hundreds of [...]

The sweetest bike of all. 2009 Specialized Epic S-works

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

The 2009 Specialized Epic S-works.
The press has hyped the bike up and Susi won the XC World Champs on it, but DANG, I was especially surprised by: a) the suspension and b) the weight. And, yes, it is a really pretty bike.
As you can see in the background, I tested the bike on a not-so-old [...]

Amber and I are in the thick of hectic training for the big races of the year. Yesterday she did a 6hr ride (WHY?!? - see why below) and I did a 4 hr ride with a short hard run off the bike. We met up along her way in Sisters, just outside our home [...]

Wayward ways

Friday, August 22nd, 2008

As can be seen on Ambers recent posts, our trip to XTERRA Ogden, Utah got slightly extended when Amber found this “fun 4 day mountain bike race” online. Most stages are 55 miles (88km) at 9000-11000ft above altitude. (2800-3300m) Check out American Mountain Classic in Brian Head, Utah
Here is Rebecca’s account [...]
