Benno Willeit, Specialized Factory Team Mechanic Whiz and Equipment Manager pimped my ride with these custom Carbon Ti bits.
Does this mean “You have made it”, or does it mean “You’re supposed to go so hard you’ll forget your name?”

Winning 3rd leg of Western Province Cross Country Champs, this Sunday at Paul Cluver, South Africa.
Havent blogged in a while partially because I had to upgrade my web host, and partly have been crazy busy. Traveling to South Africa, visiting my parents on the farm with Liezel, spending time training and settling in Stellenbosch and [...]

Santa Cruz, California (just south of San Fancisco) is wacky, its trendy and its also know as “Surf City”. And the place where Specialized test rides bikes and equipment.
I love ocean swims, and even the supposed 53F water (11C- although it felt warmer) did not put me off.

2011 ITU Cross Triathlon World Champion. Has a nice ring to it. Didnt anticipate the 5th World title to come so quickly. But it was a lot of fun.
I didnt know what to expect of the ITU’s new off road triathlon concept, but I was curious to see how it [...]

The bike course here in Extremadura is a bit unusual, but its not easy and has some fun sections. (A large part of the bike is between the water and the green/blue pole)

Red Caveman. by Nils Nilsen
This was a really fun race. During pre riding the course seemed easy and boring, but once you’re flying at race pace, things happen a lot quicker and the surface gets really loose and gravelly as the riders churn up the packed desert.
Not too sure what happened in the swim. I [...]

Caveman at Urban Rage 2010
After fighting the 9hr time change and jet lag that comes with it, I think I’m ready for XTERRA Las Vegas, the USA Season opener. The form is good, I had great legs and won the Vigne a Vigne MTB race in South Africa on sunday, (despite a puncture and a [...]

My friends call my dad “Tarzan.” Not sure why.
As you may know that he has been fighting colon cancer of the 2nd time over this past year. His plight had been an inspiration for me to win XTERRA Worlds in October- something which I knew would make him very proud. (”Stoltz” means “proud” [...]

I love the old Pirelli ad with ace sprinter Carl Lewis. It was footage of Carl running on water and then up the Statue of Liberty, before jumping from building to building. In the end he says: - in bad French- “Sans traction, la puissance n’est rien.” [Without traction, power is nothing]
The above pic, Sea [...]

The Caveman has been lucky enough to be invited as 1 of 16 celebrity drivers at South Africa’s Top Gear festival.
On my way to Kayalami race track right now for a day’s fun, hopefully meeting Clarkson and some serious driving on the racetrack. Packed some clean undies…

My pool is growing weeds.
The main reason is: I’m gathering strength and money to make it actually hold water.
The secondary reason is: Swimming is over rated.
Today:
Happier days: Kudu bull watching the pool being filled from a nearby water furrow. No electricity,- so no pumps, filters etc…
Pool building makes you fitter than swimming.
