Getting ready for XTERRA Mountain champs and FLY FISHING THE GREEN RIVER!

August 8th, 2008 by Conrad Stoltz

This race is really important because in order to keep me in the running for my 6th XTERRA USA Series title, I need to have a strong race. Amber, Kona, and I arrived in Ogden on Tuesday night to get ready for the race. Wednesday was a hard “training day”, flew with a small plane flight to the Green River in Wyoming for a day of fishing. Yesterday I did some actual training and checked out a section of the bike course which had changed from the prior two years. Less climbing and more rocky singletrack.

Bruce relaxing in the boat, (Cherokee pilot) and George (boat pilot) showing off his impressive casting skills. Part of the reason behind the fishing trip is thanks to fishing crazy Paul from XTERRA TV, who brought a crew with to make an XTERRA TV show about the amazing experience. Will post a link once the show is out…

Flying to fly fishing. Piper Cherokee 4 seater. This is by far the coolest flight I have ever had. No fixed departure time, no luggage hassle, no security check, you can use your cell phone as much as you want, you can see the runway approaching from the front, and I even got to fly the plane for a little. Wow, together with catching Browns on the Green it was Conrads’ “Make a wish day”…
