I pre rode with Josiah Middaugh- (he’s on a 29er too!)about the be a dad in 3 weeks. I somehow showed him my lines- so Josiah, if you beat me this weekend- no more pre rides with the Caveman!
Gotta love the new Avia kit! ( I know- hesitantly rocking the cute little baby wheels- this one last time…)

Shawn Frack from Avia pre rode with Josiah and I. I think he took my line, but it went all wrong and he got torn up pretty badly. Funny, whenever I ride with someone from Avia, there is blood…
Las Vegas is one crazy place. Didnt get a pic of the lifted Hummer with super sized wheels…

The ART (Active Release Technique) practitioners are quite a close group in the US, my friend Mark DeJohn (and Specialized soigneur at Sea Otter) suggested Dr Victor Leach in Las Vegas. I went by Vicor’s office straight from the airport, and was really grateful for some good treatment before the race.
A cool quote from my coach, Ian Rodger: “Training is like fighting with a Gorilla. You don’t stop when you’re tired. You stop when the Gorilla is tired. Hmm that sounds like stopping fighting Chuck only when Chuck is tired”
Damn, I’m happy I dont have to race Shonny V- she is looking super fit! Lesley Paterson had a flaming 70.3 at Oceanside, so the ladies’ race will be exciting…
On another note- Dan is broken. Dan, we miss you buddy- hope you recover quickly.
