How to make a mountain bike mud guard in 3 minutes.

Conrad’s hot tip for wet weather racing: How to keep sand & mud out of your eyes by making a low tech, high performance mud guard from a used soft drink bottle:

1) Dig through garbage cans and find a 1 or 2 liter bottle. Or buy a new one and pour out the contents. (I wouldn’t recommend downing 2l of soft drink right before your ride)

2) Cut it lenghtwise like the image below. (Make sure bottle logo does not conflict with your sponsors or clash with you bike/race kit colour scheme)

3) Place “mud guard” between the wheel and where your face would be if you were sitting on the bike.

4) You may need 2 cable ties to fix it to the frame, but this one I made in 3 minutes right before the start, fit nicely between the cables and frame.

5) Happy wet weather riding
