Surprise visit to XTERRA Vermont.
July 9th, 2009 by Conrad Stoltz

This is by far the hairiest XTERRA course I have ever pre ridden. Sure, its almost all uphill, but it is super technical and slippery. It has been raining for the past 3 weeks and everything is slimy.
Speaking of slimy, my foot is fine. The cut is 90% healed up and I even ran on it the other day…

Southern Africa certainly does not have roots like this. Neither does Reno… I crashed really hard twice yesterday. Pre riding took me 3h30 for the 16km.

Is this part of the swim or bike course? Spot the 2 blue arrows on the far side of the lake…

My new Specialized Epic is a muddy mess. But at least I now know those LOOK Quartz pedals handles the mud well.

Tire selection is crucial. Its all about climbing traction. I’m on the Specialized Captains- but even they could not handle all the horsepower. Or maybe its the lack of traction…

BUT IT SURE IS PRETTY!

Conrad,
Glad to hear that you’re racing again. If you think that foot is “fine” I’d hate to see what you think is “not fine”.
That course looks like fun.

“Not fine” is when I need a knobbly tire wheelchair for the bike and crutches for the run:)

Something tells me you’d be able to pull that one off too!
Wish I could join you in Vermont but I’m nursing a sore hamstring.
