I met sports photographer Rich Cruse at my 1st XTERRA- Richmond VA 2001.
Since then we have become close friends, but also we managed to do a lot of business together. He would shoot pics at races and make me look good- not an easy task- and I would offer it to the press and sponsors [...]

XTERRA Vermont was the muddiest race I have ever done. Even the run was really slippery and muddy and it went straight up and down the Sugar Bush ski slopes.
Special conditions calls for special measures. I modified my Avia AVI STOLTZ Caveman style…

I visited Zappos with Avia last week. Wow, what a place. Sure, they are in Las Vegas, but the people in the company are pretty amazing.  Young, hip, creative and maybe somewhat kooky? (Kooky- Wait, thats like the pot calling the kettle black!)

The Running Event 2008

The Ironman village had a demo booth where athletes can test run shoes, ride bikes etc. I worked at the Avia booth and was amazed at the size and energy of this whole Kona/Ironman thing. The Avi Lite II seems to be the most poplular for IM racing- its light with plenty of cushioning. [...]

This is the Avia trail racing shoe I helped design. Yes, trail RACING shoe. Avia Product Manager Ike Alvear extended the offer and said I could basically build my dream shoe for XTERRA racing. What an honour!

The Dirt Demo takes place in the desert outside Vegas- Bootleg Canyon. The trail system is amazing. Lots of everything- singletrack from mild to quite hairy, jumps, ladders and big drops, a small BMX track and even a huge shuttle for the boinga boinga guys.
